CYNTHIA FIORAMONTI
I was born in Melrose Park, Illinois. I graduated from Proviso East High School, where I taught upon graduation from college. I attended Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, and received a B.A. in a double major: speech and performing arts/secondary education; my M.A. is in speech. I have taught high school and community college since 1977, full time at East Aurora High School since 1986. I joined the WSPY family in August 2001. I have one son, Billy, a graduate of UNLV (University of Nevada at Las Vegas) who majored in communication. My favorite vacation spots are Hayward, Wisconsin, Phoenix, Arizona, Beach Haven, New Jersey, and Key West, Florida. Some interesting things I’ve done? One of my first jobs was as a meat wrapper at Jewel, for which I was a card-carrying member of the union of the Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of Chicago, AFL-CIO. In 1977 I attended Elvis Presley’s funeral. In 1982 my sister Jill and I were contestants on an NBC game show called “Blockbusters”, hosted by Bill Cullen. We played as a family pair; we lost, but got some “lovely parting gifts”. One of my most thrilling experiences was parasailing over the Atlantic Ocean in Ocean City, New Jersey. I have seen the play, “Wicked” seven times in Chicago, and plan to see it as many times as I can. My favorite past times are reading, gardening, swimming (I used to be a lifeguard), going to the movies, and riding my bike. I love playing Trivial Pursuit and Taboo. This year, I was honored as a Kane County Educator of the Year nominee. My two dogs, Mimi and Sergio, and I love living in the Fox Valley.
